Our Unique Approach To Mosquito Management… Not just a Fogging & Spraying Service
Our mosquito control service uses a cooperative effort with the property owner. Our treatment consists of treating the areas adjacent to structures that are conducive to mosquito harborage and breeding. Mosquitos can be active day, evening, and night, depending on the species. The typical treatment is an ultra-low volume aerosol application with materials that kill mosquitoes and provide a residual. This treatment method helps insure thorough coverage on and underneath leaves of shrubs, brush, dense landscape planting, structures, etc. that harbor mosquitoes. Also, application of insect growth regulator materials may be applied to standing water, etc., and areas that are mosquito breeding sites, helping to break the life cycle of mosquito populations.
All these efforts are even more effective in concert with property owners, who are diligent in doing all the things that help prevent mosquito breeding. Also, if they share these tips with their neighbors, the control expand throughout the neighborhood.

Mosquito Misting with residual control materials and insect growth regulators to areas are is the predominant treatment method. Focus of treatment is on areas where adult mosquitoes are at rest, such as under leaves of low-growing plantings, shrubs, bushes, heavy ornamental grasses and ground covers.
In areas where the accumulation of water cannot be prevented or corrected, a larvacide product that inhibits mosquito larval growth may be applied.

Mosquitoes pose a greater threat to human health and existence than any other animal.* Depending on the species, mosquitoes are known to carry diseases, such as dengue fever, malaria, chukungunya, various forms of encephalitis, yellow fever. They have been associated with humans since the dawn of time. Even blamed to some extent for aiding the fall of the Roman Empire by spreading Malaria. However, in our area these diseases are rare. Our diseases in this area that are of most concern are forms of encephalitis, such as West Nile Virus, which is the most common and significant disease transmitted by mosquitoes in recent history. This disease is usually mild, but complications can occur, and make for a seriously ill patient. Birds are the primary reservoir (yes, mosquitoes bite birds, too!). This disease affects horses, and 40% of horse cases are fatal.
Your dogs are at risk for heartworm from mosquitoes, as well. A mosquito-borne parasite that causes Canine Heartworm Disease, a potentially fatal parasitic worm that infects the hearts of dogs. Prevention of heartworms is best addressed by your veterinarian, but mosquito control can minimize the mosquitoes in your dog’s environment. At least 72 species of mosquitoes can carry this disease.

Mosquito management is challenging, difficult, and should be regarded by customers as abatement, a reduction to a reasonable level. Mosquito elimination is not likely. However, for short periods following treatment, a high degree of control can be achieved. For instance, breeding sites for our most common pest mosquito in Oklahoma, the Asian Tiger Mosquito, can be 100 yards away from your home! All the more reason to work with your neighbors in a concerted effort to reduce mosquito breeding sites and habitats where adults spend time, where possible. Ideally, treatment should hopefully last 2-3 weeks, depending on weather conditions. Wet weather can negatively impact the length of the residual.
All materials used by Pest Medic are EPA approved. However, no pesticide is utterly safe, and must be applied in accordance with the product label. We always choose the materials that strike the best balance between safety and effectiveness, and our service technicians are trained in the use of the application equipment, as well as how to apply pesticides safely. We read and follow the label directions on any pest management product we use. We make every effort to provide all our services in the safest manner for you, your friends and family, and your pets.
